GFH in English

Gymnastikföreningen i Helsingfors is a gymnastics club with focus on keep-fit gymnastics in good company, fun gymnastics for children, and dance groups for all, from children to adults.

Our mission is to offer various forms of gymnastics and dance in Swedish in Helsinki. Our groups have classes at school gyms leased by the city of Helsinki. Please see our groups under Verksamhet.

GFH has been awarded the title Gymnastic Club of the year 2023 by FSG (Finland’s Swedish Gymnastics Union) for which we are grateful. Thanks also goes to GFH’s coordinator and dance teacher Ella Enqvist who has made a great job in developing GFH’s dance groups for children.

Since the start in 1876, GFH has had groups that actively participate in gymnastics festivals. At the World Gymnaestrada in Amsterdam in August 2023 GFH was represented by dancers from our dance groups Ellis, and by some gymnasts from our mixed group. At the FSG Festival in Hangö 14-16 June 2024, GFH had 130 active participants. GFH gymnasts and dancers, both children and adults, were participating in several large group performances as well as in hall and city performances. GFH’s mixed group Still Going Strong (men and women together) will participate in the Golden Age Gym Festival in Burgas, Bulgaria 21-28 September.
